Kappa Alpha Theta - University of Oklahoma
For the past 25, years Thetas have stood with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) to impact the lives of foster children. As an organization of women committed to spreading the widest influence for good, we have contributed millions of dollars over the years to local and National CASA programs as well as countless volunteer hours. It has been an amazing 25 years, but our work is not done. In fact, it may only be just beginning. Former CASA CEO Michael Piraino was quoted saying, "Now that we know the number of children in care is rising again, it looks like a perfect storm: less money for services, but more children, from more difficult circumstances, coming into care."
Local CASA organizations provide much needed support in their respective communities, and National CASA provides essential training, educational materials, and advocacy work that benefits the nationwide network. When chapters have a local CASA program in their community or state, they are encouraged to form a relationship with the organization and to send contributions directly to them. The OU Thetas have graciously donated their time, effort, and fundraising to South Central CASA of Oklahoma. Through a renewed strategic partnership, 2018 is set to be a record fundraising year. Our goal for total funds raised this year has been sat at $50,000.
